My name is Timothy Bearden. My wife is Jolene Bearden. For years I was a photographer and was able to photograph numerous events and weddings. When my children were born I then became a stay at home dad who operates multiple home businesses. Through out the years we would travel, often to tropical locations. I am an avid scuba diver, with enough dives to be a master diver. Even more so I’ve snorkeled in some of the best locations. After so many dives I decided to bring a bit of paradise to my home.
We started with a 70 gallon salt water aquarium. We have had many ups and downs with our various displays. It was my original intent to have lots of fish in a mixed reef. My wife fell in love with coral more than fish. So we began collecting various corals with less of a emphasis on fish. We then expanded with a 8 gallon and 30 gallon frag tank. We have met many fellow reefers on the way.
I decided to create Bear Coral as a place to document the coral we have, and eventually the coral we choose to sell. After being in the reefing hobby I have seen the damage first hand the hobby can do to the worlds reefs. It is my hope to advocate for a more sustainable reefing hobby though the use of aquaculture practices. We are also providing tank maintenance for local reefers.
